The film portrays Magda (Magdalena Grodzka-Gużkowska) who joined the Polish Underground in the fight against the Nazis at age 15. During World War II – unaware of her Jewish roots – Magda risked her life saving Jews in Warsaw. Decades later, she discovers her own Jewish ancestry.

Magda died on Jan 6, 2014 on the eve of her 90th birthday. She had made it her wish to be buried at the Warsaw Jewish Cemetery.
